Was stellst du dir vor?

1. Platzieren:

  • Ich stelle die Vase auf den Tisch. (I put the vase on the table.)
  • Stell deine Schuhe bitte vor die Tür. (Please put your shoes in front of the door.)
  • Der Kellner stellte das Essen auf den Tisch. (The waiter placed the food on the table.)

2. Fragen:

  • Stell mir bitte keine dummen Fragen! (Don’t ask me stupid questions!)
  • Was stellst du dir vor? (What do you imagine?)
  • Hast du noch Fragen? (Do you have any more questions?)

3. Zeit:

  • Stell den Wecker auf sieben Uhr! (Set the alarm for seven o’clock!)
  • Die Uhr ist fünf Minuten vor. Stell sie zurück. (The clock is five minutes fast. Set it back.)
  • Stell dir vor, es wäre Weihnachten! (Imagine it’s Christmas!)

4. Ansprüche:

  • Der Chef stellte hohe Ansprüche an seine Mitarbeiter. (The boss set high standards for his employees.)
  • Wir stellen uns der Herausforderung. (We face the challenge.)
  • Sie stellte ihre Karriere vor ihre Familie. (She put her career before her family.)

5. Anstellen:

  • Die Schlange vor dem Laden war lang. Stell dich hinten an. (The line at the store was long. Get in line at the back.)
  • Er stellte sich krank. (He feigned illness.)
  • Stell dich nicht so an! (Don’t be so difficult!)

6. Herstellen:

  • Die Fabrik stellt Spielzeug her. (The factory makes toys.)
  • Sie stellte ein Kunstwerk aus Papier her. (She created a work of art from paper.)
  • Wir stellen gemeinsam ein Festessen her. (We’re making a feast together.)

7. Darstellen:

  • Der Schauspieler stellte Hamlet dar. (The actor portrayed Hamlet.)
  • Das Bild stellt eine Landschaft dar. (The painting depicts a landscape.)
  • Stell dir vor, du wärst ein Vogel. (Imagine you’re a bird.)

8. Beamte:

  • Die Regierung stellte neue Beamte ein. (The government hired new civil servants.)
  • Er ist Beamter bei der Post. (He’s a civil servant at the post office.)
  • Sie stellte sich als Ärztin vor. (She introduced herself as a doctor.)

9. Anträge:

  • Sie stellte einen Antrag auf Urlaub. (She submitted a vacation request.)

10. Probleme:

A Risky Proposition

The Sweetness of Nature

Speaker 1:

My name is Sarah. I’m a maple syrup producer in Vermont. My family’s been making syrup for generations, and we take pride in our traditions. But this year, our business is in jeopardy. A new development is going to be built near our sugar bush, and it threatens to destroy the natural environment we depend on.

Speaker 2:

The developer says that the project will bring jobs and economic growth to our community. But I don’t believe them. I think they’re just in it for the money, and they don’t care about the environment or the people who live here.

Speaker 1:

We’ve tried to fight the development, but it’s an uphill battle. The developer has powerful friends, and we’re just a small family farm. I’m starting to feel like we’re running out of options.

Speaker 3:

I have an idea. We could use our syrup to raise awareness of the issue. We could make special bottles of syrup that are labeled with the name of the developer and the date of the groundbreaking. We could sell them at farmers’ markets and online.

Speaker 1:

That’s a great idea! It’s a way to use our product to fight for what we believe in.

Speaker 2:

I think it could work. But it’s a risky proposition. If it doesn’t work, we could lose our entire business.

Speaker 1:

I know. But I’m willing to take that risk. I can’t just sit here and watch our way of life disappear.

Speaker 3:

Me too. Let’s do it!
