Level 1.2 [1b] verb list:
The Level [1b] verb list consists of the following 10 German verbs: arbeiten, aufwachen, bekommen, bestellen, besuchen, bringen, schlafen, suchen, verstehen and warten.
- arbeiten – to work
- aufwachen – to wake (up)
- bekommen – to get, to receive
- bestellen – to order (something)
- besuchen – to visit (someone, something)
- bringen – to bring (something)
- schlafen – to sleep
- suchen – to look (for), to search
- verstehen – to understand
- warten – to wait
If you have not learned the verbs on the previous lists, it is best to learn those first. The Level 1.1 [1a] verb list consists of 25 simple verbs. The modal verb list consists of six helper verbs. Once you memorize the previous verbs, you will be ready to start learning the 10 verbs in the level 1b verb list on this page.
After you memorize the level 1b verbs, you will be ready to move on to the next section, Level 1.3 [1c], and learn the next 10 verbs in the series.
Level 1.2 [1b] Books
The Level 1.2 [1b] DaF books use some of the most common verbs in the German language. Level 1.2 articles are written using words from the Level 1.2 [1b] verb list combined with previously learned verbs on the Level 1.1 [1a] and the modal (m) verb lists.

Level 1.2 German Verb usage:
1. arbeiten – to work
Ich arbeite in einer Bank. Ich bin der Bankdirektor. I work at a bank. I am the bank manager.
2. aufwachen – to wake (up)
Guten Morgen, Hannah. Du musst jetzt aufwachen. Good morning, Hannah. You have to wake up now.
3. bekommen – to get
Wie bekommen wir mehr Geld? How do we get more money?
4. bestellen – to order
Ich werde fünf DaF-Bücher online bestellen. I am going to order five DaF books online.
5. besuchen – to visit
Wir werden Italien im Sommer besuchen. We will visit Italy in the summer.
6. bringen – to bring
Kellner, bitte bringen Sie mir ein Speisekarte. Waiter, please bring me a menu.
7. schlafen – to sleep
Ich muss mehr schlafen. I need to get more sleep.
8. suchen – to look (for)
Suchen Sie die Autoschlüssel? Are you looking for the car keys?
9. verstehen – to understand
Ich verstehe was du meinst. I understand what you mean.
10. warten – to wait
Bitte warten Sie hier auf mich. Please wait for me here.
