Trapped in the Depths

The mountain was a treacherous labyrinth of tunnels and chambers, its passages winding deeper and deeper into the earth’s heart. My fellow dwarves and I had been exploring for days, driven by the tales of a hidden dwarven city that lay within its depths. The legends spoke of a metropolis of gold-encrusted halls, filled with ancient treasures and secrets of the past.

We were on the brink of discovering the city when the cave-in struck. A deafening roar echoed through the tunnels as the earth trembled beneath our feet. The passage ahead collapsed, blocking our path and trapping us in an isolated chamber.

We huddled together in the darkness, fear gnawing at our hearts. The air grew cold and damp, and the silence was oppressive. We could hear the dripping of water from the stalactites overhead, and the occasional rustle of bats as they swooped through the chamber.

Suddenly, a piercing screech echoed through the darkness. A pair of glowing red eyes flickered in the shadows. A creature emerged from the darkness, its fangs bared and its eyes burning with an unholy light. It was a vampire, a creature of the night that preyed on the living.

We were trapped, and the vampire was hungry.
