Eva:

The Pumpkin:
It’s me, the pumpkin.
Eva:
The pumpkin? But… how?
The Pumpkin:
I’m not just a pumpkin, Eva. I’m a sentient pumpkin. I can think and feel just like you.
Eva:
This is crazy.
The Pumpkin:
No, it’s not crazy. It’s just the way things are. We pumpkins have been protecting humanity for centuries.
Eva:
Protecting us from what?
The Pumpkin:
From the monsters.
Eva:
Monsters?
The Pumpkin:
Yes, monsters. They lurk in the shadows, waiting to prey on the unsuspecting. But we pumpkins are their natural predators.
Eva:
How?
The Pumpkin:
We emit a powerful pheromone that repels them. We also have sharp thorns that can pierce their skin. And we can use our vines to ensnare them.
Eva:
But why don’t you just kill them?
The Pumpkin:
Because that would only make them stronger. We need to keep them in check, not destroy them.
Eva:
So, you’re saying that all those scary stories about pumpkins are actually true?
The Pumpkin:
Yes, they are. The monsters are afraid of us, and they use fear to keep us hidden. But we are not afraid of them. We are the protectors of humanity.
Eva:
I don’t know what to believe.
The Pumpkin:

Eva:

You’re welcome, Eva. Now, be careful on your way back. There are still monsters lurking in the shadows.

Eva turns to leave, but then she stops.
Eva:

The Pumpkin:
Yes, Eva?
Eva:
Is it true that pumpkins can grant wishes?
The Pumpkin:
(Chuckles)
The Pumpkin:
Only if you believe in them.
Eva:
I do.
The Pumpkin:

Eva closes her eyes and makes a wish.
