I sat on my horse, the wind whistling through my hair, as we rode through the rugged mountains. We had been searching for this treasure for days now, and I was starting to lose hope. But then, I saw it – a glint of gold in the distance. I urged my horse on, and we galloped towards it.
It was a large chest, covered in dust and cobwebs. I dismounted my horse and cautiously approached it. I wiped away the dirt, revealing the gleaming gold coins and jewels inside. I couldn’t believe my eyes. We had found it!
I reached for the treasure, but as I touched it, a cold chill ran down my spine. I looked up, and I saw a pair of glowing eyes staring at me from the darkness. I gasped and backed away, my heart pounding in my chest.
The figure emerged from the shadows, and I saw that it was a tall, gaunt woman with long, black hair. She had piercing blue eyes, and her skin was pale and ashen. She wore a long, black dress that billowed around her in the wind.
She smiled at me, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. Her smile was cold and predatory, and her eyes held a hint of malice.
“This is my treasure,” she said, her voice raspy and low. “And you have no right to it.”
I swallowed hard, and I tried to speak, but I couldn’t find my voice. I was paralyzed with fear.
The woman reached out and grabbed my arm, and I felt a jolt of electricity course through my body. I screamed, and I tried to pull away, but she was too strong.
She dragged me towards the chest, and I saw that she had a knife in her hand. She raised the knife high above her head, and I closed my eyes, waiting for the inevitable.
But the blow never came. I opened my eyes, and I saw that the woman was gone. I was standing alone in the middle of the clearing, the chest of treasure at my feet.
I was shaking, and I was covered in sweat. I couldn’t believe what had just happened. I had seen a ghost!
I quickly mounted my horse and rode away as fast as I could. I didn’t look back, and I didn’t stop until I was far away from the mountains.
I never saw the ghost again, but I never forgot her. She haunted my dreams for years to come.
Do you believe in ghosts?
