As the ancient voice booms, I feel my fear waning, replaced by a surge of determination. I open my eyes and reach for the axe and dynamite in my bag. I know I have to fight back, or I will surely become another victim of the forest’s insatiable hunger.
With a swift motion, I swing the axe, cutting through the gnarled branches that threaten to engulf me. The trees groan in protest, but I ignore their pain and continue to hack away, creating a path for myself.
The dynamite shakes in my hand as I clutch it tightly. I need to be careful, just one wrong move and the forest will be engulfed in an inferno. But I know I have to take the risk. If I can’t escape, I’ll make sure the forest pays the price for its treachery.
I reach the edge of the forest, the sun’s warm rays greeting me like a beacon of hope. With a final surge of courage, I detonate the dynamite, sending a shockwave through the trees. The forest erupts in a blaze of fiery destruction, the trees screaming in agony as they are consumed by the flames.
I stumble through the smoke and ash, emerging from the forest battered but alive. I am free.
But as I look back at the inferno that rages behind me, a question lingers in my mind:
Will the forest ever forgive my intrusion?
Anna quickly reaches into her bag and grabs the axe and dynamite. She takes a deep breath and swings the axe, severing a thick branch that blocks her way. She uses the dynamite to blast a hole in the wall of trees, creating a narrow escape route.
Anna runs through the hole, her heart pounding in her chest. She doesn’t dare look back, but she can hear the trees crashing after her. She runs as fast as she can, her lungs burning, her legs aching.
She finally reaches the edge of the forest and collapses to the ground, gasping for breath. She looks back and sees the trees standing at the edge of the forest, their gnarled branches reaching out like accusing fingers.
Anna knows that she is not safe yet. The forest will not forget her, and it will not rest until it has devoured her. She knows that she must find a way to escape the forest and its dark secret.
Will Anna be able to escape the forest and its ancient hunger?
