The Forest’s Embrace
The snow fell like a silent curtain, obscuring our vision and muffling our voices. We, a group of four friends, had ventured into the heart of the ancient forest, seeking adventure and escape from the mundane world. But the forest, a place of secrets and shadows, had other plans for us.
As we wandered deeper into the woods, the trees seemed to close in around us, their gnarled branches reaching out like skeletal arms. The air grew colder, piercing through our layers of clothing, and a sense of dread began to creep into our hearts.
Suddenly, a gust of wind knocked us off our feet, sending us tumbling into the snow. When we looked up, we saw that the trees were moving, their branches twisting and writhing like serpents. A low growl emanated from the forest, sending shivers down our spines.
We scrambled to our feet, our hearts pounding in our chests. We tried to run, but the trees were closing in on us, their branches forming an impenetrable wall. We were trapped.
One by one, we were consumed by the trees. Branches snapped and limbs snapped, and our screams were swallowed by the icy silence. I was the last one left, and I knew my fate was inevitable.
As the branches encased me, I felt a strange sensation, a warmth spreading through my body. The pain was gone, replaced by a feeling of peace and tranquility. I could feel the Earth beneath me, the roots of the trees intertwining with my own. I could feel my friends, their spirits lingering in the forest.
I was no longer human. I was part of the forest now, one with the trees. I waited patiently for new people to enter the forest, seeking an escape from their own lives. I would guide them through the darkness, help them cross over from human to something more.
I would be their salvation, or their doom.
Will you enter the forest, seeker?
