In the year 2042, the world is divided into two distinct classes: the genetically enhanced elite, known as the Ascended, and the unmodified populace, known as the Unmodified. The Ascended, possessing enhanced strength, intelligence, and physical prowess, have risen to the pinnacle of society, controlling the political, economic, and social spheres. They live in gleaming cities, surrounded by the latest technological advancements, while the Unmodified are relegated to squalid, overcrowded slums.
I am one of the Unmodified, a member of the underclass, struggling to survive in the shadows of the Ascended. My life is a constant struggle against poverty, discrimination, and a deep-rooted sense of hopelessness. I work long hours in dangerous, low-paying jobs, my meager earnings barely enough to support my family. My children, growing up in the harsh realities of the slums, are denied access to quality education and healthcare, their futures bleak and uncertain.
The Ascended, with their superior abilities and resources, have created a society that caters solely to their needs and interests. They have monopolized the world’s resources, leaving the Unmodified to scavenge for scraps. They have manipulated the political system to ensure their continued domination, silencing any dissent with ruthless efficiency.
A social revolution is brewing, a growing discontent among the Unmodified. The stark contrast between our lives and those of the Ascended has become too much to bear. We are tired of being treated as second-class citizens, of being denied our basic rights and opportunities.
I am a part of the movement for change. I organize protests, distribute subversive literature, and engage in acts of sabotage against the Ascended’s infrastructure. We are determined to overthrow the established order, to reshape the world’s power dynamics and create a society where everyone has equal opportunities.
The Ascended, aware of our growing threat, have responded with increasing brutality. They have deployed their advanced weaponry against us, suppressing our protests with ruthless force. They have infiltrated our ranks, identifying and eliminating our leaders.
Yet, we persist. Our determination is fueled by the injustice we have suffered and the hope for a better future. We are united in our cause, our voices growing louder with each passing day.
The struggle is far from over, but we are on the cusp of victory. The Ascended’s grip on power is weakening, their control over society crumbling. The tide is turning in our favor, and the future belongs to the Unmodified.
