Characters:
Sam: A seasoned hiker, the leader of the group. Sarah: A young hiker, new to the group.
Scene:
Deep within a dense forest, a group of hikers, Sam, Sarah, and two others, are making their way through the dense undergrowth. The air is thick with the scent of decaying leaves and damp earth, and the only sound is their own breathing and the crunch of their boots on the forest floor.
Sarah
“Sam, I think we’ve lost the trail.”
Sam
“Don’t worry, Sarah. We’ll find it. Just keep your eyes peeled for any landmarks.”
The group continues to hike, but they are unable to find the trail. The forest seems to be closing in on them, and the shadows are growing longer.
Suddenly, a low growl echoes through the trees. The group freezes, their hearts pounding in their chests.
Sam
“What was that?”
Before they can react, a monstrous creature lunges out of the darkness. It has an elongated, serpentine body and razor-sharp claws. Its eyes glow with an eerie green light.
The creature hissed menacingly, and the group scatters in all directions. Sarah runs for her life, but the creature is faster. It catches her in its jaws and drags her into the darkness.
Sam watches in horror as his friend is taken away. He knows he has to save her, but he is terrified of the creature.
Sam
“Sarah! Sarah!”
Sam runs into the darkness, following the creature’s trail. He stumbles over roots and rocks, but he doesn’t dare stop.
He finally comes to a clearing, and there, in the center, is the creature. It is standing over Sarah, who is lying motionless on the ground.
The creature turns to face Sam, its eyes glowing brighter than ever. Sam raises his flashlight, but the creature lunges at him, knocking the flashlight out of his hand.
The creature is now on top of Sam, its claws tearing at his clothes. Sam struggles to fight it off, but the creature is too strong.
Sam closes his eyes, waiting for the end.
Suddenly, a bright light flashes. The creature screams in agony and recoils. Sam opens his eyes to see Sarah standing behind him, holding a flare gun.
Sarah
“I told you I could handle it, Sam!”
The creature, injured and disoriented, stumbles away into the darkness. Sam and Sarah watch it go, then they collapse into each other’s arms, tears of relief streaming down their faces.
Ending:
Sam
“Sarah, are you okay?”
Sarah
“I think so. But what about you?”
Sam looks down at his torn clothes and bloodied face.
Sam
“I’ll live.”
Sam and Sarah look at each other, their hearts pounding. They have just faced their worst nightmare, but they have survived.
But will they ever be able to forget what they have seen?
Will Sam and Sarah ever be able to escape the Shadow that lurks within the depths of the forest?
