Setting: A dimly lit room in a gothic mansion.
Characters:
- E – A man in his early 20s
- L – A woman in her late 20s
Stage Directions:
The scene opens with E standing in the center of the room, nervously fidgeting. L is sitting on a couch, reading a book.
E: (Clears throat) L, I was wondering…
L: (Looks up from her book) Yes, E?
E: (Hesitates for a moment) Would you take off your shirt?
L puts her book down and stares at E.
L: (Awkwardly) Why?
E: (Blushes) I just think it would be nice.
L: (Stands up) I don’t think so.
E: (Dejected) Oh, okay.
E turns around and walks towards the door.
L: (Calls out to E) E!
E stops and turns around.
L: (Walks up to E) Come here.
E hesitates for a moment, then walks back to L.
L: (Looks up at E) I’m sorry, I was just being silly.
E: (Sighs) It’s okay.
L: (Reaches out and takes E’s hand) I’ll take off my shirt for you.
L smiles at E and pulls him towards her. They kiss.
Meanwhile, in a remote mountain range:
A group of scientists are gathered around a computer screen, staring at the image of a mountain range.
SCIENTIST 1: (Looks up from the screen) It’s moving.
SCIENTIST 2: I can’t believe it.
The scientists continue to watch the screen as the mountains slowly shift their positions.
SCIENTIST 3: What does this mean?
SCIENTIST 1: I don’t know, but it’s not good.
The scientists continue to discuss the mountains, but their voices are drowned out by a loud rumbling sound.
The ground begins to shake, and the scientists can barely stand.
One of the scientists screams, and the others run for cover.
The mountains are now moving much faster, and the ground is shaking violently.
Suddenly, a portal opens up in the sky, and a beam of light shoots down towards the mountain range.
The mountains begin to glow, and the portal closes with a deafening boom.
The scientists watch in horror as the mountains collapse in on themselves.
SCIENTIST 1: (Shakes his head) What have we done?
E: (Looks up at L) Did you feel that?
L: (Nods) Yes. It was like an earthquake.
E: I wonder what happened.
L: I don’t know, but it doesn’t feel good.
E: (Looks around the room) Something’s different.
L: (Looks around the room) I know. It’s like the air is thick with something.
E: (Closes his eyes and takes a deep breath) It smells like… dust.
L: (Opens her eyes) But it’s not just dust. It’s something else.
E: (Opens his eyes and looks at L) What is it?
L: Fear.
E: (Looks around the room) I can feel it.
L: (Closes her eyes and takes a deep breath) It’s everywhere.
E: (Opens his eyes and looks at L) What are we going to do?
