Scene:
A dark, gothic mansion. A woman is sitting on a couch, reading a book. A man enters the room.
Man:
“Hey, beautiful.”
Woman:
“Hi.”
Man:
“What are you reading?”
Woman:
“A horror story.”
Man:
“Scary?”
Woman:
“Not really.”
Man:
“Well, I’ve got a scary story for you.”
Woman:
“What is it?”
Man:
“I want you to take off your shirt.”
Woman:
“Why?”
Man:
“Because I’m curious.”
Woman:
“No.”
Man:
“Why not?”
Woman:
“Because I don’t want to.”
Man:
“Come on, it’s just a shirt.”
Woman:
“No, I said no.”
Man:
“Fine.”
The man leaves the room. The woman is left alone, feeling scared. She puts down her book and looks around the dark room. She suddenly feels a presence behind her. She turns around and sees a tall, dark figure standing in the doorway.
Woman:
“Who are you?”
The figure doesn’t answer. It just stares at her with glowing red eyes.
Woman:
“What do you want?”
The figure doesn’t answer. It just slowly walks towards her.
Woman:
“Please don’t hurt me.”
The figure stops in front of her and reaches out its hand. The woman flinches.
Woman:
“Don’t touch me.”
The figure lowers its hand.
Woman:
“What do you want from me?”
The figure doesn’t answer. It just continues to stare at her.
Woman:
“I’m scared.”
The figure reaches out its hand again. The woman closes her eyes and waits for the inevitable.
Woman:
“Am I going to die?”
Man:
“Open your eyes.”
The woman opens her eyes. The figure is gone. The man is standing in its place.
Woman:
“You scared me.”
Man:
“Sorry.”
Woman:
“What was that?”
Man:
“It was a ghost.”
Woman:
“A ghost? Are you serious?”
Man:
“Yes.”
Woman:
“I don’t believe in ghosts.”
Man:
“Well, you should.”
Woman:
“Why?”
Man:
“Because they’re real.”
Woman:
“Prove it.”
Man:
“I can’t.”
Woman:
“So you’re just making it up?”
Man:
“No, I’m not.”
Woman:
“Then how do you know they’re real?”
The man doesn’t answer. He just stares at her.
Woman:
“Are you going to tell me?”
The man shakes his head.
Woman:
“Why not?”
The man shrugs.
Woman:
“So you’re just going to leave me hanging?”
The man nods.
Woman:
“Fine.”
The woman stands up and walks towards the door.
Man:
“Where are you going?”
Woman:
“I’m going to bed.”
Man:
“Can I come with you?”
Woman:
“No.”
The woman leaves the room. The man is left alone, feeling confused. He doesn’t know what to do. He doesn’t know if he should believe the woman or the ghost.
