The Stranger rode into town on a dusty horse, his cloak billowing in the wind. He wore a dark hat and sunglasses, and his face was hidden in shadow. He rode up to the saloon and dismounted, hitching his horse to the rail.
He walked into the saloon, and the cowboys all stopped what they were doing to stare at him. He walked up to the bar and ordered a drink.
“Well, stranger,” said the bartender, “what brings you to our town?”
The stranger took a sip of his drink.
“I’m looking for some help,” he said.
“Help with what?” asked the bartender.
“I’m looking for a hidden treasure,” said the stranger.
The cowboys all gasped.
“A hidden treasure?” asked one of the cowboys. “Where?”
“In the mountains,” said the stranger. “I know where it is, but I can’t find it myself.”
The cowboys all looked at each other. This was the most exciting thing that had happened in town in years.
“We’ll help you find it,” said one of the cowboys.
The stranger smiled.
“Thank you,” he said.
The next morning, the cowboys rode out into the mountains with the stranger. They followed him for days, up and down hills and through canyons.
Finally, they came to a cave. The stranger told the cowboys that the treasure was inside.
The cowboys all cheered. They dismounted their horses and led them into the cave.
The cave was dark and spooky. The cowboys could hear strange noises coming from the darkness.
They followed the stranger deeper into the cave. Suddenly, the stranger stopped.
“There it is,” he said.
He pointed to a pile of gold coins in the middle of the cave.
The cowboys all gasped. They had never seen so much gold in their lives.
They rushed over to the pile of gold and started scooping it up.
But then, something terrible happened.
The ground started to shake. The walls of the cave started to crumble.
The cowboys all screamed and ran for their lives.
They ran out of the cave and mounted their horses.
They rode away as fast as they could.
They never saw the stranger again.
They never found out what happened to the treasure.
Do you believe the treasure is still there?
