The town of Abilene was a dusty place, where the wind blew and the sun beat down. I was a cowboy, and I worked on the Lazy A ranch. We were a bunch of rough men, and we didn’t like strangers.
One day, a stranger rode into town. He was a tall man with a long, dark coat. He had a black hat pulled down over his face, and he didn’t say a word. He rode up to the general store and asked for directions to the Lazy A ranch.
We were all suspicious of him, but the sheriff told us to give him the directions. The stranger thanked us and rode off towards the ranch.
We were all curious about him, so we decided to follow him. We rode up to the ranch and watched him talk to the foreman. The foreman told us that the stranger was looking for a hidden treasure. He said that the treasure was hidden somewhere in the nearby mountains, and he needed our help to find it.
We were all excited about the prospect of finding treasure, so we agreed to help him. We packed up our horses and set off into the mountains.
We rode for days, and we didn’t find anything. We were starting to lose hope, when we came across an old mine shaft. The stranger said that the treasure was hidden in this mine shaft.
We rode into the mine shaft, and we were immediately hit by the smell of death. We could see bones everywhere, and we could hear whispers in the darkness.
We were all terrified, but we kept going. We followed the stranger deeper into the mine shaft, until we came to a room filled with gold.
We were all amazed by the sight of all that gold, but then we saw something that made our blood run cold. There was a skeleton sitting on the gold, and it was wearing the same clothes as the stranger.
We realized that the stranger was a ghost, and he had led us to his treasure only to kill us. We tried to run, but the ghost was too fast. He caught us and killed us all.
Should we have followed the stranger into the mine shaft?
