I Am Not Alone.

The city of Zenith is a marvel of technology and human ingenuity, a beacon of progress amidst the ruins of the old world. Here, genetic enhancements are the norm, not the exception. The enhanced elite, known as the Paragons, possess superhuman abilities, towering over the unmodified populace, the Baselines. They are the architects of this new world, the pinnacle of human evolution.

I am a Baseline, a member of the underclass, the forgotten majority. I work as a janitor in one of the Paragons’ towering skyscrapers, cleaning up after their lavish parties, their extravagant displays of wealth and power. I see their arrogance, their disdain for us Baselines, their belief in their inherent superiority.

I am tired of being treated like a second-class citizen. I am tired of seeing my people suffer, relegated to menial jobs, forced to live in squalor while the Paragons live in luxury. I am tired of the oppression, the injustice. I am tired of this world.

I am not alone. There is a growing movement of resistance, a silent rebellion brewing beneath the surface of Zenith’s gleaming façade. We are the Baseline Vanguard, a group of ordinary people united by an extraordinary goal: to overthrow the Paragons and establish a new order, a world where all humans are equal, where genetic enhancements are not a privilege but a choice.

We are not Paragons, we are not superhumans. But we have something that the Paragons lack: we are united. We have a shared purpose, a shared dream of a better future. And we are willing to fight for it.

Our plan is simple, yet risky: we will infiltrate the annual Paragon Games, a grand exhibition of their enhanced abilities. During the games, we will seize control of the city’s communication infrastructure, disrupting the Paragons’ control and broadcasting our message to the world. We will expose their tyranny, their exploitation of the Baselines, and our vision for a more just society.

The day of the Paragon Games arrives. I am among the crowd, blending in, unnoticed. The stadium is packed with cheering Paragons, their voices echoing through the vast arena. The Games begin, a dazzling display of superhuman feats, feats that we Baselines can only dream of.

But as the Games progress, our plan unfolds. Our operatives, strategically placed throughout the stadium, seize control of the communication towers. The Paragons’ smug smiles turn to confusion as their communication systems fail, their message of superiority cut off.

Then, our message begins to broadcast, a powerful call to action, a rallying cry for all Baselines to rise up and demand their rights. The stadium erupts in chaos, the Paragons’ control crumbling before their eyes.

We Baselines, the forgotten majority, the voiceless underclass, finally find our voice. We march through the streets of Zenith, our numbers swelling, our determination unwavering. The Paragons retreat, their arrogance shattered, their power waning.

The city is ours. The world is ours.

We have overthrown the established order, reshaped the world’s power dynamics. We have proven that genetic enhancements are not the sole measure of a person’s worth, that humanity’s true strength lies in unity, in equality, in the shared dream of a better future.

We are the Baseline Vanguard, and we are here to stay.
